Research:

I am a researcher interested in the aging adult population. I became interested in aging after watching members of my own community grow older, and subsequently encounter both the positives and negatives associated with advanced age. I was originally born and raised in Fresno, California. I attended UC Berkeley, where I studied Rhetoric, and also took classes in philosophy and history. I then pursued my Master’s Degree in Psychological Sciences at CSU Northridge.

I studied the effects of aging stereotypes on elder care decisions in dyads of adult children and their aging parents. Additionally, I assessed if subjective socioeconomic status was associated with desire to engage with aging parents. Since then, I have more narrowly defined my research interests and have gained more experience with data analysis techniques associated with the aging population.

Research Interests:

• grieving/bereavement, loneliness, social isolation in older adults

• caregiving, family decision making for, and adaptation to chronic illness

• personality, coping, and health behaviors across the lifespan
