Jacob Markarian

About Me:

I am a psychological researcher interested in cognitive and emotional health across later life. My work examines how modifiable psychosocial, behavioral, and relational factors affect cognition, emotional resilience, and quality of life among older adults and their caregivers.

I received an M.A. in Psychological Science from California State University, Northridge, where my thesis examined how aging stereotypes and subjective socioeconomic status influence care decisions within aging parent and adult child dyads. My long-term goal is to integrate clinical science, lifespan development, and neuropsychology to better understand risk and resilience in cognitive aging and dementia and to develop culturally responsive approaches that support older adults and families navigating aging, caregiving, grief, and social isolation.
